Abigail Layne
Abigail began her musical journey at the age of five with the piano. Beginning at age 12, Abigail took up the violin in middle school orchestra. Abigail has studied with many teachers in the Omaha area including: Tyler Roberts, violin, Tyler Sieh, Viola, Dr. Ken Meints, composition, and Tetsuya Nishiyama, guitar. Currently, Abigail is on track to graduate from the University of Nebraska Omaha with a Bachelors of the Arts in Music Technology, while currently studying with Dr. Mary Perkinson, violin.
Abigail’s performance history includes playing in the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra, Orchestra Omaha, Aberdeen University/ Civic Symphony, as well as the UNO orchestra. Abigail has toured around the Midwest and Branson, MO, opened for shows such as the Haygoods and the Duttons, performed at the re‐opening of the Joslyn Art Museum and has played alongside the Omaha Symphony with Omaha’s Frontier Strings ensemble. Abigail has had experience in the pit, playing first violin for The Loft’s 2024 run of Beauty and the Beast & Something Rotten’, Elkhorn Community Theaters 2025 run of Shrek the Musical, Skutt Catholic High School’s 2024 run of The Sound of Music, and Brownell Talbot’s 2026 run of The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
Abigail’s teaching experience began in high school, when she began assistant teaching with Omaha’s String Sprouts Program. Since then, Abigail became a certified Sprouts curriculum teacher and has also gained experience in teaching group and private lessons, as well as coaching small ensembles. In February of 2026, Abigail gave a presentation at ASTA in San Francisco, an internationally recognized string teacher conference.
Lessons with Abigail will include learning of all kinds — technique, general music knowledge/theory, practice strategies, and more! Lessons will be fun and engaging, and the curriculum will be personalized to fit each student.
